Twilight Soundtrack Debuts at #2, Mario Bows in Top 10, Owl City on the Rise

Reprise crooner Michael Buble’s Crazy Love gets another stint at #1, selling 188k in his first full week on the HITS Album chart (up 34%), topping Chop Shop/Atlantic’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack, which debuts at #2 with 115k since its release last Friday. The movie doesn’t open until Nov. 20.

Roc Nation/Atlantic’s Jay-Z album moves up a couple of spots to #3, giving Warner Music Group the top three slots, while Columbia’s Barbra Streisand (#4) and Interscope’s resurgent Black Eyed Peas move #23-5, with an impressive 63% boost, thanks in part to an iTunes $7.99 special, the new video and a ubiquitous DirecTV spot, round out the Top 5.

Hollywood’s Miley Cyrus is at #6, Epic’s Michael Jackson compilation Number Ones moves #21-7, +48%, thanks to This Is It build-up, while Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#17-8, +7%) and Island/IDJ’s Mariah Carey (#10) sandwich Top 10 newcomer J Records/RMGs Mario (#9).

Warner Bros.’ Flaming Lips (#16), Reprise’s new Dead by Sunrise (featuring Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington), Columbia’s Bob Dylan Christmas album (#31), Jive/JLG’s David Archuleta holiday disc (#32), Columbia’s Five for Fighting (#35) and Interscope’s Karen O-featured Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack (#36) represent the other Top 50 newcomers. The Beatles’ “White Album,” part of the massive reissue of the band’s catalog on Apple/Capitol, re-enters at #47.

Jackson’s Thriller is also up double digits, moving #44-24, +56%, while Universal Republic’s New and Developing Artist issue cover boy Adam Young’s Owl City continues to climb, moving #32-21 this week, thanks to “Fireflies.” LaFace/JLG’s P!nk (#46-42, +3%) and Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum (#40-37, +1%) are both up a tick.

This week, Curb’s Tim McGraw, Columbia’s Clipse and Virgin/EMI’s Joss Stone Target/iTunes exclusive all hit physical and digital retail. And then, next Tuesday (10.27), This Is finally It, as the posthumous Michael Jackson album streets.
