Among the surprises were the Foo Fighters, Vince Gill and Herbie Hancock getting nods for Album of the Year, while Springsteen was aced out; Daughtry being snubbed for Best New Artist in favor of Ledisi and Paramore (we didn’t see those two on anybody’s predictions); and Lucinda Williams slipping into Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance.
Among the critical faves who scored nods were Wilco, Beck (whose “Timebomb” single is unattached to any album and has yet to be physically released), Williams, the White Stripes, the Shins, Steve Earle & Allison Moorer and Common.
