GORILLAZ IN THE MIDST OF BRIT AWARD NOMINATIONS

Cartoon Band Draws Six Nominations
The nominees for the Brit Awards 2002, the UK's equivalent to the Grammys, were announced on Monday. Because of the time difference and currency conversion from punds to euros to dollars it's Tuesday in America, before we're able to list them. Expect the same sort of delays when we list the winners next month.

Virgin's Gorillaz received six nominations, the most, including best British album, single, newcomer, video, dance act and group. Arista's Dido and Capitol's Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams each grabbed four noms. Michael Greene will be happy to note that Michael Jackson was not nominated and will not be performing.

The 21st annual awards take place Feb. 20 at London's Earl's Court and will be hosted by British hottie Zoe Ball. The awards show will be shown on ITV1 the next night. Call your cable operator now and say, "I want my ITV1!"
