Paul DeGooyer "Tires" has been named General Manager of Palm Pictures Audio-Visual Division, where he will oversee the day-to-day operations of the record label and implement marketing strategies for both music and DVD releases.
"I am very excited to be working with Paul, who is such a passionate music person and a real visionary," said Chris Blackwell, founder of Palm and to whom DeGooyer reports. "His musical taste, marketing skills and experience make him a natural fit for Palm Pictures."
DeGooyer said: "I'm honored to be part of the team at Palm Pictures. It's an especially exciting time for the company, with releases from Zero 7 and Local H, and our upcoming DVD project, 1 Giant Leap. I hope Chris will now comp me a suite at one of his hotels."
DeGooyer joined Palm last June as Head of DVD, and most recently spearheaded a successful marketing campaign for Palm's American Roots Music, a multi-platform release consisting of a four-CD box set, a double-DVD set, a four-VHS set and a highlight disc. Prior to Palm, he was the Head of Marketing and A&R for RED Distribution's Red Ink. From 1993 to 1994, DeGooyer was U.S. Label Manager for Peter Gabriel's Real World label at Caroline Records, and Senior Product Manager and Director of Marketing for Sony's TriStar Music from 1995 to 1997.
