Troubled rapper
Shyne and bodyguard
Anthony "Wolf" Jones will testify that
Bad Boy Entertainment mogul
Sean "Puffy" Combs didn’t touch a gun the night of the Club New York shooting in December if granted separate trials, the
New York Daily News reports.
This new information is contained in a 69-page motion filed to dismiss the weapons and bribery charges against Combs, the paper said. If the motion fails, defense attorneys will reportedly still seek a separate trial.
The latest news stems from an incident that occurred late last year in which Shyne (a.k.a. Jamal Barrow) allegedly shot and wounded three people in a Manhattan nightclub.
Combs and Jones were arrested after fleeing the scene with Combs’ girlfriend
Jennifer Lopez in a Lincoln Navigator driven by
Wardel Fenderson.
After being stopped by police, a loaded 9-mm gun was recovered for which prosecutors linked to Combs. After subsequent discussions, prosecutors said Combs allegedly offered $50,000 and a diamond ring to his driver to claim ownership of said gun.
Combs pled not guilty to criminal possession of a handgun and bribery charges and is expected to appear in court on May 16.
