Well, lick me with a sledgehammer—it’s time for the Tuesday Chart Wrap-Up! Let's take a look at the action at three key Mediabase formats.
TOP 40
Warner Bros.’ Jason Derulo is #1 Most Added with his latest single “Marry Me.” Fresh off of his Super Bowl announcement and VMA performance, Bruno Mars comes out of the gate big with “Gorilla.” RCA's Miley Cyrus breaks the record for single-day views at VEVO with the clip for “Wrecking Ball,” which jumps to #1 at iTunes and quickly picks up 30 new stations, including Z100 N.Y. and KIIS L.A. We saw strong closeout weeks for YMCMB/Republic's Drake, Lava/Republic’s Lorde, Hollywood's Selena Gomez, Warner’s Tegan & Sara, and the latest hit from Aftermath/Interscope’s Eminem.
ALTERNATIVE
Coldplay's “Atlas,” on Republic’s Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, has a big Modern Rock week and is easily the #1 Most Added song in America. It was big-market domination, with KROQ, KNDD, KXRK, WXDX and KDGE joining legions more. Another huge story: The late-night release of Arcade Fire's “Reflektor” (Merge), which in less than 24 hours picked up 12 new stations. Other winners included Island/IDJ's American Authors, XL's Vampire Weekend and Columbia's MS MR.
RHYTHMIC
Ariana Grande takes home Most Added honors with “Right There” featuring Big Sean (Republic). Lorde’s “Royals” (Lava/Republic) Sage The Gemini’s “Gas Pedal” (Republic) and Rihanna’s “What Now” (Def Jam/IDJ) all have solid weeks. Chris Brown’s “Love More” (RCA) and Macklemore’s “White Walls” continue to close out the panel.
