SUM 41 GOES #1
3/1/24

Many congrats to BMG’s Nick Attaway for guiding Sum 41’s “Landmines” to #1 next week at Alternative radio. This is a significant achievement as it marks the band’s second #1 and their first chart-topper in 22 years. It’s also the longest stretch between #1 hits in the Alternative format’s history. The previous record belonged to The Killers, who had a 13-year gap between #1s.

We will have a new #1 at Alt next week, but it’s too close to call as Cannons’ “Loving You” (Columbia) and Sum 41’s “Landmines” (BMG) are in a dead heat heading into the weekend. Republic’s Jam looks to enter the Top 10 with “Dark Matter” (Monkeywrench) during its second week on the chart. And after just two days of airplay, Warner’s Linkin Park will have a tremendous debut in the Top 20 with “Friendly Fire.” Also making impressive chart debuts are Dirty Hit’s Bleachers with “Tiny Moves,” Capitol’s Kings of Leon with “Mustang” and Big Loud Rock’s Blame My Youth with “The Break.”
