The 10th annual Association of Independent Music Awards took place virtually Wednesday with Little Simz (pictured), Moses Boyd, FKA Twigs and Yaeji among winners. Labels Jazz Re:freshed and Speedy Wunderground were also honored.

Little Simz and AJ Tracey, who were among a number of live performers, performed in a state-of-the-art extended reality studio that immersed them in an interactive environment brought to life through the addition of 3D graphics.

Jazz artist Boyd (Exodus Records) was named U.K. Independent Breakthrough and drummer Sarathy Korawar got Best Independent Album for More Arriving (The Leaf Label).

Best Independent Track went to “More” by Flying Lotus f/Anderson .Paak (Warp Records); Freya Ridings (Good Soldier) was given the PPL Award for Most Played Independent Artist.

Best Independent label went to London-based Jazz Re:freshed and Speedy Wunderground won Best Small Label.

Transgressive-signed British singer and songwriter Arlo Parks was named One to Watch, AJ Tracey got the Innovator Award and Little Simz was named Pioneer. Young Turks artist FKA Twigs won Best [Difficult] Second Album for Magadalene and international breakthrough went to XL-signed electronic artist Yaeji.

Erasure member and songwriter Vince Clarke was honored with the Special Recognition Award

and IMPALA Executive Chair Helen Smith was named Indie Champion. The late Nigerian drummer Tony Allen received the Outstanding Contribution to Music.

Finally, Best Independent Video went to The Howl & The Hum for “The Only Boy Racer Left on the Island” (AWAL) and Five Finger Death Punch (Better Noise Music) got Best Live Act.
