COLUMBIA'S URBAN ADDITION

Columbia Records has named Azim Rashid as SVP/Head of Urban Promotion, it was announced on 8/19. The strategist and promotion maven was most recently the SVP of Promotion at Roc Nation and previously held stints at Motown Records, Atlantic Records, and Capitol Music Group. In his new role, Rashid will be responsible for the Columbia roster at urban radio in addition to leading the Urban Promotion department.

“Azim is renowned as both a sharp promotion executive and a respected figure in urban music with a phenomenal track record of launching artists at radio. I’m very excited to welcome him to the Columbia Records family,” said Jim Burruss, SVP of Promotion/Operations.

Azim adds, “Columbia Records is home to some of the most important artists in music history and now to some of the hottest new artists in the game...I’m thrilled for what the future holds. This is an incredible new chapter and I am honored to embark upon it.”
