SPOTIFY'S NEW U.K. MD

Update your contacts: Spotify has a new U.K. boss in former Vevo exec Tom Connaughton who arrives as George Ergatoudis exits for Apple. In his previous role, Connaughton headed up the team responsible for content and programming at the video platform.

At Spotify, Connaughton will lead the growth of its U.K. business as Managing Director, including driving content strategy, artist partnerships, shows and editorial, and artist marketing, according to Music Business Worldwide. After seven years at Vevo, he joined the streaming service in April as Head of Artist and Label Marketing and has received a swift promotion.

Ergatoudis was Head of Music Culture, International Shows & Editorial / Content at Spotify and he’s expected to be named Head of UK at rival Apple.

During his time at Vevo, Connaughton lead a London-based team who delivered original programming and live events before moving to New York to do the same. He previously worked in a similar role at MySpace after spending nine years in A&R and marketing at Sony Music.
