Veteran flack Tracy Zamot is just finishing up her first week running music comms at SiriusXM, and one of her first orders of business was to spread the news that Dwight Yoakam will launch his own channel on the satellite radio platform.
Dwight Yoakam and the Bakersfield Beat, curated by the genre-obliterating trailblazer himself, will offer tunes from an eclectic but spiritually connected mix of acts including Buck Owens, Wynn Stewart, Tommy Collins, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, the Eagles, The Blasters, Lucinda Williams, Ricky Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, X, Lone Justice and Los Lobos, alongside music from throughout Yoakam’s three-decade career.
The channel will launch in the spring, but SiriusXM is previewing Dwight Yoakam and the Bakersfield Beat this weekend starting today at 2pm PT through Monday at 1am on channel 58, the permanent home of Prime Country.
