Bieber-mania strikes iTunes’ songs chart as Justin’s latest collab, “2U” with David Guetta, goes straight to #1 upon release. That gives the Biebs a presence on three singles in the current Top 5, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” and DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One,” being the other two. On the album side, there’s an avalanche of new titles.
Katy Perry’s Witness (Capitol) finds itself at #1 on iTunes’ albums chart on this flipover Friday that sees nine new albums in the Top 10 and another five titles occupying #11 to #16.
Perry’s fourth album takes the top slot ahead of Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum, whose return from a brief hiatus, Heart Break, is #2.
The much-anticipated debut from R&B singer SZA, Ctrl (Top Dawg/RCA), takes over at #3 while hitting #10 at Apple Music, making it the top new streaming release.
Wolves, the eighth album from Virgin hardcore band Rise Against, is #4, one slot ahead of Hillsong United’s Wonder (Hillsong Church/Capitol CMG).
Two EPs occupy #6 and #7— Korean rapper/singer G-Dragon’s Kwon Ji Yong (YG), and Sage and Stone, the self-released debut from Pentatonix singer Avi Kaplan’s folk act Avriel & the Sequoias. The Broadway cast recording of Anastasia (Broadway) is #8.
The self-titled album from Fleetwod Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie (East West) goes its own way to #10. Albums from Phoenix, AJR, Rancid, London Grammar and Jessie James Decker are lined up just outside the Top 10.
Among new songs, David Guetta f/Justin Bieber's "2U" (What A Music/Def Jam) opens at #1 at iTunes while DJ Khaled’s latest, “To the Max” f/Drake (We The Best/Epic), is #4 on Apple Music’s songs chart.
