#MLK DAY: TWEETS OF TRIBUTE
IN TIMES OF TURMOIL

As has become the tradition, social media is saturated with quotes from, pictures of and discussions about The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today. King's legacy of non-violent resistance to institutionalized racism is even being celebrated on Twitter by the president-elect, his daughter Ivanka, House majority leader Paul Ryan and Senator Ted Cruz, whose apparent priorities are in direct contradiction to virtually everything King advocated. (Indeed, PEOTUS just attacked civil-rights icon and MLK acolyte Rep. John Lewis, and Sen. Bernie Sanders has chided Trump for praising MLK while his party suppresses voting rights). Even The FBI, whose infamous chief J. Edgar Hoover did everything in his power to discredit King, tweeted out its support for his message. Meanwhile, prominent members of the music community have celebrated King in their own way; a few examples below.

Meanwhile, prepare for much more of the protests, sit-ins and other forms of non-violent resistanceMLK advanced to become much more prominent in the dawning era.
