BRUCE ARCHIVES TO STAY IN JERSEY

For scholars looking to study the work of Bruce Springsteen they’ll need to take a trip to—where else?—the Jersey shore. Just months after publishing his memoir Born to Run, Springsteen has donated  his collection of written works, photographs and artifacts to Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J.

The university will establish the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music. Monmouth alum Robert Santelli, executive director of the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, is expected to take on a leadership role at the new center, The New York Times reported.

Springsteen and Santelli, who helped the university establish the Bruce Springsteen Special Collection of memorabilia that opened 11/1, made the announcement during a public conversation event at the school

“The establishment of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music celebrates and reinforces the Jersey Shore’s legacy in the history of American music, while providing a truly transformative experience for our students,” University President Paul R. Brown said in a statement.

The university is one of nine university affiliates of the Grammy Museum.
