THE BEEB SALUTES BEST OF '16

Adele, Coldplay and The 1975 (pictured) were among the artists given gongs at the BBC Music Awards in London Monday night—decided by top music execs from the Beeb—where a host of stars also delivered show-stopping performances.

Radio 2’s Album of the Year was Adele’s 25 (XL) and “Hello” was crowned BBC Music Song of the Year (a fan vote from a PPL compiled shortlist). The singer sent Robbie Williams to accept the first gong. Parlophone’s Coldplay accepted British Artist of the Year via a live video of “Everglow” from Australia.

The 1975 (Dirty Hit/Polydor) took home BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Performance of the Year for their cover of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful,” and frontman Matt Healy thanked Radio 1 for being intrinsic in the band’s success.

Lastly, BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year Izzy Bizu (Epic) showcased her vocal prowess on “White Tiger.”

Looking and sounding every inch the pop star was another new face from the Sony camp, Black Butter's Zara Larsson (pictured), while Virgin EMI’s Emeli Sande was spellbinding with a powerful rendition of “Breathing Underwater”; Williams worked the room with “Sensational.” John Legend (Columbia), Craig David (Insanity), Lukas Graham (Warner) and Kaiser Chiefs (Caroline) also performed before ditching the swanky do for a pint in the pub.
