BOWERY PRESENTS ADDS NEW NY VENUE

The Bowery Presents will open the largest general admission venue in Brooklyn in the spring, giving the New York-based promoter six venues in the city.

Brooklyn Steel, with a capacity of approximately 1,800, will open in the spring, joining the Music Hall of Williamsburg and Rough Trade in the Bowery Presents portfolio. The Decemberists, Pixies, PJ Harvey, Two Door Cinema Club and Whitney are among the first bands confirmed to headline the venue.

Brooklyn Steel is located in, where else, the Williamsburg section at 319 Frost St. The 20,000-square foot venue featuring raised platforms and a mezzanine; hundreds of tons of steel are among repurposed materials used in the décor. L-Acoustics is responsible for the sound system. The architect on the new space is HLW NYC and the contractor Jepol Brooklyn.

Among the venues Bowery Presents operates and books are Terminal 5 in New York, The Sinclair in Boston and Union Transfer in Philadelphia.

“With every venue we open,” The Bowery Presents partners John Moore and Jim Glancy said in a statement, “we aim to create a space where both fans and bands can fully enjoy the experience; from easy access to bars and restrooms, to unobstructed sightlines and state-of-the-art sound and acoustics.”
