U.K. MOURNS THE LOSS OF RICHARD ANTWI

The U.K. music industry is mourning the death of Richard Antwi, a highly respected manager, label founder and lawyer. Reports say he passed away yesterday (2/11), aged 38. The cause of death is thus far undetermined.

Antwi played a big role in launching the careers of artists including Lethal Bizzle, Wretch 32, Mr Hudson and Melissa Steel. Others he worked with closely included Daley, Wiley and Estelle.

He launched Full + Bless Management in 2013, and—alongside BBC Radio 1xtra DJ Twin B—founded record label Levels Entertainment as a joint venture with EMI Music Publishing.

Speaking via Twitter, Daley celebrated his “brother and mentor,” while Markell Casey, A&R Manager at Virgin EMI, said: “Rest easy. Good friend and true gent.”

Lethal Bizzle posted a tribute on Instagram this morning, thanking Antwi for being “a big part in changing my life around.” He continued: “You’re a very special person. The music industry is forever in your debt, you'll be truly missed.”

Tinie Tempah manager Dumi Oburota remembered Antwi as “one of the brightest, hardest, articulate, wise, warm and calm leaders of our culture,” and Shabs Jobanputra, Relentless Records boss, added: “Very, very sad news about the passing of Richard Antwi. He helped us at Relentless a lot in the early days. He will be missed by all.”

Wretch 32 wrote: "There was never a dull moment in your presence. You told me to be the best. A true leader and a gentleman, thank you for being you.”
