The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Films in the U.S. Over the Weekend

The Kevin Hart and Ice Cube-led cop comedy Ride Along 2 topped the box office this weekend with $34m. The critically acclaimed The Revenant, which might just score Leonardo DiCaprio his first Oscar, wasn't far behind with approximately $30m in its fourth week out. The film itself led the Oscar noms with 12 in total.

And at #4, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi marks the second highest grossing debut. The Michael Bay film—which tells the story of six members of the Annex Security Team and how they defended the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi from an attack by Islamic militants—garnered very mixed reviews, however, and a measly 59% on Rotten Tomatoes.

1. Ride Along 2 (Universal) $34m 3,175/$10,721 avg. (debut)
2. The Revenant (Fox) $30m 3,559/$8,289 avg. (week 4)
3. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Buena Vista) $25m 3,822/$6,572 avg. (week 5)
4. 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (Paramount) $16m 2,389/$6,697 avg. (debut)
5. Daddy's Home (Paramount) $9m 3,322/$2,800 avg. (week 4)

Just outside the Top 5, Norm of the North, Lionsgate's animated family flick about a talking polar bear (voiced by Rob Schneider), exceeded critics' expectations and earned just under $7m in its first week out.
