LEWIS OUT AT CAA

Leading Hip Hop Agent Ankles; Should Land Elsewhere Quickly

Cara Lewis, the top rap agent in the biz, exits CAA under a cloud of controversy. Insiders at the agency say she's excessively tough on the staff and simply doesn’t fit the CAA agent image. The firm clearly felt differently when it wooed her away from longtime home WME in 2012. Look for Lewis to land elsewhere quickly with her clients—including Eminem, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora and Travis Scott—who are said to be loyal to her (longtime client Kanye West split for UTA earlier this year).

This development is seen by many as part of the continuing overhaul of the music department on the heels of the announcement of the anointing of Darryl Eaton and Rick Roskin, as Mitch Rose and Rob Light begin to take on more managerial roles and less hands-on, day-to-day client responsibilities. Still unanswered is the question of whether young hotshot Jeffrey Azoff will leave the Death Star to go styling with dear old daddy.
