The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Films Over the Weekend Domestically

Fox's The Martian returns as the #1 movie in America with $16m in its fourth week out. Lionsgate's The Last Witch Hunter, which stars Vin Diesel as an immortal (you guessed it) witch hunter, is the highest-grossing debut at #4 with $11m. The latter, however, opened to absolutely dismal reviews; The New York Times' Amy Webster referred to it as a "smorgasbord of empty calories."

2. Goosebumps (Sony) $15.5m 3,501/$4,427 avg. (week 2)
3. Bridge of Spies (Buena Vista) $11m 2,811/$4,043 avg. (week 2)
4. The Last Witch Hunter (Lionsgate) $11m 3,082/$3,512 avg. (debut)
5. Hotel Transylvania 2 (Sony) $9m 3,154/$2,854 avg. (week 5)

In limited release, Focus' Suffragette, which shines a light on the early leaders of the feminist movement in a quest for equal rights, earns a strong $19,250 average across just four theaters.
