While January is the month when most folks make their fitness resolutions, July might be the best time to act on them, Run Hundred’s Chris Lawhorn gently suggests in his intro to the site’s latest monthly tally, voted on by users. The sun comes up earlier and a stays out later—providing more opportunities to get out and active. Or you could just yank down the shades and mope in the dark till Labor Day. (Chris didn't say that last part.)
The most popular tracks in the gym right now—listed in the inverse order of the number of votes each received—include a feisty smash from Taylor Swift, a country/dance tune from Lost Frequencies, a pulsing number from Icona Pop, a Walk the Moon track that isn't "Shut Up + Dance," the climactic medley from Pitch Perfect 2 and a remix of Ella Henderson’s transatlantic hit.
As usual, we’re compelled to toss out a few cuts that have gotten our pulses racing of late, starting with Beck's “Dreams” and The Arcs' “Outta My Mind.” But here's an actual spin playlist we worked out to over the weekend, assembled and typed out by instructor TC Luisi."Champagne Supernova" was an inspired choice to kick off that "rock" segment. We would've gone with the original version of "Listen to the Music," but we thought the U2 remix really worked. And the Moby cool-down instrumental was perfect. It was a clever and refreshing batch.
