McCARTHYISM TAKES ROOT AT SPOTIFY

Former Netflix CFO Barry McCarthy is assuming the same role at Spotify, the company announced on Wednesday. McCarthy will give up his seat on the Spotify board in order to assume this active role. The hiring could be seen as a step toward preparing for an IPO, The Wall Street Journal speculates. McCarthy helped take Netflix public in 2002 and served as CFO as the company began its transition from a mail-order DVD business to a leader in video streaming—which just happens to be a new expansion area for the company.
