Sony/ATV's Marty Bandier, seen here with multiple-Grammy-snagging writer Pharrell Williams and some other musical friends after receiving a special NARAS award this weekend, has issued a statement about the evening, where another of the pubco's writers, Sam Smith, had a pretty fine time. You'll find the quote (which may or may not have appeared, in very tiny print, on limited-edition commemorative Cohibas) below.
“Sony/ATV Music Publishing is thrilled that the Academy has recognized the extraordinary talents of our songwriter Sam Smith with four Grammy Awards. Sam was undoubtedly the big new star of 2014 and we believe he has a long and exciting career ahead of him. The Grammy Awards continues to be an important platform for Sony/ATV songwriters and artists, and we are delighted to see their work recognized.”
Sony/ATV writers also won trophies from Country (Miranda Lambert) to Dance (Clean Bandit) to Musical Theater (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), among many others.
We know we said it before, but seeing Marty on the telecast was pretty freakin' cool.
