PASCAL TO STEP DOWN AS SONY PICTURES CO-CHAIR

Brought Low by Hollywood's Most Famous Emails Ever

Amy Pascal, the Sony Pictures Co-Chair who made headlines when a hack of company emails caused her public embarrassment, will step down in May, it was announced today.

Pascal's emails insulting President Obama and various stars affiliated with the studio's projects generated huge press last year.

Rather than renew her deal, Sony opted to give her a four-year production package. A replacement has not bee named; Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton will consolidate his oversight of the studio.

A New York Times report describes Pascal as an exec "whose passion for stars and story marked her as one of the last of Hollywood’s old-style studio chiefs." What she said about them in her emails has yet to be determined.
