Sony/ATV Success

SONY/ATV ON TOP: Sony/ATV Music Publishing is #1 in U.S. marketshare for the second consecutive quarter with 19.5% of airplay for the 100 most popular songs. The company has five of the Top 10 songs, including Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” (#2), Young Money f/Lloyd’s “BedRock” (#3) and David Guetta f/Akon’s “Sexy Chick” (#4). The results represent a leap of more than 11% since 2006. The company also boasts three of the quarter’s top songwriters, including Lady Gaga (#1), Taylor Swift (#2) and RedOne (#5). To celebrate, Chairman/CEO Martin Bandier, who came to the company in 2007, lit another cigar. (5/14p)
