Crist settles suit with Byrne

LIFE DURING WARTIME: Former Florida governor Charlie Crist, who pushed through that Jim Morrison pardon before he left office, confirmed that he’d settled a suit filed by David Byrne after using the Talking Heads’ “Road to Nowhere” in an online campaign video without permission, the N.Y. Times reports. Byrne had sued the Republican-turned-independent, who lost the election, for $1 million. As part of a settlement, Crist has posted a YouTube video apologizing for the copyright infringement. “Mr. Byrne has never permitted his songs to be used for advertising of any kind,” Crist says in the clip, adding that the inclusion of the song “was wrong and should not have occurred.” (4/12a)
