ex-RIAA lawyer voted Solicitor General

VERRILLITY: The Senate has voted to approve the appointment of former RIAA attorney Donald Verrilli Jr. to serve as Solicitor General. It was Verrilli who headed the org’s legal team in its landmark lawsuit against Grokster, which the Supreme Court ultimately decided in favor of the labels. More recently, he led Viacom’s $1 billion copyright suit against YouTube. Verrilli will fill the vacancy left by Elena Kagan when she was appointed to the Supreme Court last year. Hey man, nice ’stache. (6/8a)
