Spotify pricing tiers

HERE WE GO: Spotify launched this morning, according to plan (see item below), so we now know the details of the U.S. setup. As in Europe, there’s a free, ad-supported service and two premium tiers, priced at $4.99 and $9.99 a month. Both of these are ad-free, while the top tier extends the service to smartphones. The free tier gives users access to the catalog, which Spotify claims is north of 15 million tracks, for six months. After that, there will be caps of 10 hours a month, and a cutoff point after five spins of any given song. iPhone users can bypass the whole invite process by paying $4.99 a month to get it immediately. The invitations have gone out, but, as usual, we have yet to receive ours. (7/14a)
