Rhone to Sony, restoring Portrait

A PORTRAIT OF SYLVIA: It isn’t surprising that Sylvia Rhone is heading to Sony to reunite with Doug Morris. What is surprising is the nature of her new job. According to the N.Y. Post, she’ll restore the defunct Portrait label, reportedly working closely with Epic honcho L.A. Reid. Sources say Reid and Rhone will be sharing staff, as Portrait won’t be a full-service label with its own promo department. Cyndi Lauper will be signed to the imprint, the item continues. Portrait, started in 1976, was dissolved in 2002. (7/21a)
