YouTube Sets Up Shops

YOUTUBE SETS UP SHOPS: YouTube is reportedly setting up Merch Store, a play which will allow artists to sell downloads, merchandise, tickets and other items through their individual channels. "With 800 million people per month coming to YouTube, you have a pretty big stage to share your music, and now we're adding features to also make YouTube your box office, merchandise table and music store," the company told Digital Music News over the weekend. Early partners include Topsin, powering the merchandising portion, while Songkick will provide the concert ticketing, with Amazon and iTunes among the download sellers. (10/17a)
