Wong Rejoins IDJ

WONG FOR THE MONEY: Eric Wong returns to Island Def Jam Music Group as EVP Marketing, reporting to President/COO Steve Bartels. The N.Y.-based exec will create, develop and execute marketing strategies for label artists, overseeing the company’s marketing, digital, creative and artist development departments. Wong, who founded his own Wong Management firm, previously served in key management posts at Bad Boy Entertainment and Atlantic Records, where he was Chief Marketing Officer and SVP Marketing, respectively. Wong’s management company included clients such as Mariah Carey, Ryan Star and Wynter Gordon. He previously served as VP Marketing at IDJ. At age 16, he applied for an internship in Billboard and was chosen for a job at WEA Distribution through Youth Entertainment Summer (Y.E.S.), a program designed for minority high school students. The summer led to an internship at Atlantic, then to a position as a college rep at EMI, while he graduated from New York University. “It is a thrill to have Eric back here with us at IDJ,” said Bartels. “Especially considering the savings on business cards.” (2/23p)
