Spears, Lovato to X Factor

X MARKS THEIR SPOT: Simon Cowell will introduce Britney Spears and Demi Lovato as the new judges on next fall’s The X Factor at this morning’s upfront in New York. Spears has reportedly inked a $15 million contract to appear on the show. Cowell’s choices are obviously meant to grab the all-important youth market since dumping judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger after last year’s debut season, when the show attracted around 10 million viewers, about half of what Cowell predicted. The show has yet to announce a replacement for last year’s host Steve Jones. Spears and Lovato will join Cowell and returning judge L.A. Reid on the panel. (5/14p)
