Ulrich in Hemingway and Gellhorn

METALLICA IN SPAIN: Last night's HBO original movie Hemingway & Gellhorn featured a rather long speaking role for Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, who played Dutch filmmaker Joris Ivens (complete with accent), the man who shot the 1937 documentary, The Spanish Earth, with novelists Ernest Hemingway and John Dos Passos during the Spanish Civil War shown in the movie, which stars Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman in the title roles. Nice job for Lars' second real acting stint... he also had a small role in Get Me to the Greek and, of course, was front and center in Some Kind of Monster, the 2004 doc on the band. (5/29p)
