ALEX IN WONDERLAND: Alex Patsavas has moved her Chop Shop label from Atlantic to Barry Weiss’ UMG East Coast operation. The new deal gives Patsavas the ability to work with IDJ, Republic and Motown on a case-by-case basis. She’ll also work closely with Cynthia Sexton, EVP of Strategic Marketing for the label group. "Alexandra is a perfect fit for our family of labels as we continue to expand our creative partnerships," said Weiss, who made the announcement this morning. "She is not just an incredibly gifted music supervisor, but a storyteller, a tastemaker and a talent scout with a track record of success that speaks for itself." Patsavas stated that she’s "a big fan of the UMG roster and have always admired the care they take in breaking acts. Their artist-friendly approach and careful strategic promotion of new artists is extremely impressive, and we look forward to partnering with the biggest label in the world." John Rubeli will stay on as President of Chop Shop, overseeing daily operations of the label. (1/31a)
