Lyor's new biz plan--Post

LYOR IN THE MARKET FOR A HYBRID: Lyor Cohen is in the process of raising money to launch his own company, the N.Y. Post’s Claire Atkinson reports this morning, echoing revelations from our own I.B. Bad last fall. According to Atkinson’s sources, the hybrid business would house its own label, invest in outside ventures and help cultivate talent. The 53-year-old veteran is talking to a handful of strategic investors with an eye toward reigniting his industry network, which includes the likes of Jay-Z and Kanye West, as I.B. has previously noted. “He isn’t going to the established music labels. He’s going to strategics for a new investment fund and a record label,” one source told Atkinson, while another said Cohen is also mulling digital investments. He declined to comment on Friday.
