Jason Iley Leaves Mercury

ILEY OUT: Mercury UK prez Jason Iley is leaving Universal Music, Music Week reports. Iley, who arrived at Mercury in 2005 after serving at sister labels Polydor and Island (and who brought U2 to Mercury with him after the superstar group's 27 years at Island), departs as plans are formally announced to consolidate the label within the newly created Virgin EMI Records. On his watch he's seen success with Jake Bugg, Bust and McFly, among others. Iley is reportedly setting up a management-marketing venture and will continue to work with UMG on selected projects.
