Hertz deals

FIRM DEALINGS: The legal eagles of Hertz, Lichtenstein & Young are making aggressive moves of late, as they finalize a bunch of new deals. Perhaps the biggest of them involves A Great Big World, as both record label Epic and music publisher UMPG pounce, lured by the group’s biz-buzzing single “This Is the New Year,” which was recently featured on Glee. Also in the bag are a JV with Warner Bros. for rock band Bad Things and a deal with Columbia for pop/electronic duo Bom Bom. Looks like signing derbies are beginning to heat up again—traditionally the result of an improved climate; keep your eyes locked right here for more action from this firm and other players. (5/7a)
