'Mats reunion

THEY WILL DARE: The Replacements will reunite for the first time in 22 years to play at least three festival dates this summer, the band announced on Wednesday night. Surviving members Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson are confirmed, though the status of estranged drummer Chris Mars remains unclear. Bobby Stinson died in 1995 after struggling with addiction, while replacement guitarist Slim Dunlap had a stroke last year and will be unable to participate in the reunion. The three confirmed gigs, all part of the Riot Festival, are in Toronto (8/24-25), Chicago (9/13-15) and Denver (9/21-22). Among the acts joining the 'Mats on the Denver bill are Iggy and the Stooges, Blink 182, Public Enemy, Bad Religion, The Airborne Toxic Event, Yo La Tengo, Guided By Voices and buzzing newcomers Kongos.
