"POMPEII" AND CIRCUMSTANCE: "I was blown away by the depth and richness of sound they were able to produce using tight vocal harmonies, finger clicks, clapping and foot-stamping," goes the assessment of a recent acoustic gig byVirgin's Bastille. Which is cool and all, but here's the really unusual part: Said remarks come from Andrew Davies, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Washington, DC. Davies welcomed the band to perform at the Embassy over the weekend, and wrote a recap for the Huffington Post. Apparently the gig was less disruptive than The Beatles' famed 1964 appearance at the Embassy, but nonetheless quite well received. Of course, the subsequent government shut-down means that all music has been suspended in our nation's capital. (10/1p)
