Ticketmaster sues scalpers for bots

NO IFS, ANDS OR BOTS: Ticketmaster has filed suit against two ticket retailers for allegedly using "bots"—software apps that in this case barrage Ticketmaster's site to purchase large batches of tickets instantly—and defeating online security measures for purposes of scalping, reports Courthouse News Service. The defendants in the suit are Higs Tickets of Boston and Orange County, CA's Blazing Tickets; the companies' chief execs are also named. Live Nation-owned Ticketmaster's war against bots has escalated over the last year; last month, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed an anti-bot bill it endoresed into law. (10/21a)
