U2 thanks McGuinnness

A TOAST TO MCGUINNESS: The members of U2 thanked their longtime manager, Paul McGuinness, in a post on their official website that confirmed earlier reports of the band’s new deal with Live Nation and Guy Oseary. The musicians hailed McGuiness “for his extraordinary leadership, guidance and friendship over the last 35 years,” adding, “Paul has saved us from ourselves many times over and we would not be U2 without him.” Still, the post notes, the manager “will remain on as the mentor-in-chief” and describes Oseary as “a brilliant man with a lot of energy” who “knows he’s got some big shoes to fill.” (12/6a)
