TOP 10 TRACKS: The upper reaches of the weekly sales chart resemble an inversion layer over the L.A. Basin, with little movement or relief. The Top 5 was unchanged and down with the exception of DJ Snake & Lil Jon, who were up a relatively robust 10%, giving Columbia another Top 5 trifecta. The label had further cause for celebration in that longtime chart-topper Pharrell managed to stay north of 200k. In the most positive move, red-hot Iggy Azalea replaced Lana Del Rey, last week’s Top 10 debut, at #6 behind a 29% gain. Otherwise, Luke Bryan and Justin Timberlake managed to move up in the standings even while being slightly off in sales—it was that kind of week.

By contrast, the real estate just below the leaderboard is full of promise, with releatively recent releases from Coldplay, MKTO, Naughty Boy f/Sam Smith, Pitbull f/G.R.L., Nico & Vinz, Sam Smith himself, Rixton, Calvin Harris, Disclosure f/Sam Latch and 5 Seconds of Summer all shaping up as prospective hits.
