Shania Twain was named Entertainer Of The Year at the
Academy Of Country Music Awards Wednesday evening.
The
Dixie Chicks,
Faith Hill and
Lonestar took home two awards apiece.
Twain took top honors over the Chicks, Hill,
Tim McGraw and
Sawyer Brown.
The Chicks won Group Of The Year over
Asleep At The Wheel,
Brooks & Dunn, Lonestar
and Sawyer Brown and also took home Album Of The Year honors over Asleep at the Wheel's "Ride With Bob,"
George Jones' "Cold Hard Truth," McGraw's "A Place in the Sun" and Hill's "Breathe."
Hill was Top Female Vocalist, besting
Martina McBride,
Jo Dee Messina,
Chely Wright and Twain. She also took best video for "Breathe." Husband McGraw took home Top Male Vocalist over
Alan Jackson,
Toby Keith,
Collin Raye and
George Strait.
"Amazed," performed by Lonestar won Song Of The Year over McGraw's "Please Remember Me," Brad Paisley's "He Didn't Have to Be," Hill's "Breathe" and Jones' "Choices." The award went to songwriters
Aimee Mayo,
Marv Green and
Chris Lindsey.
Lonestar also won single record of the year over "He Didn't Have to Be," "Please Remember Me," the Chicks' "Ready to Run" and George Strait's "Write This Down."
