WHAT IT IS: Born and raised in Brooklyn, the 19-year-old producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist—now based in L.A.—spent her childhood in her father’s Mission Sound studio, a Neve room where she gained insight into the record-making process. She began writing her own songs at age five, later garnering label attention and turning it down in her teens. While she was attending USC’s Thornton School of Music, her self-produced EP caught the ear of super-producer Mark Ronson, leading her to become the first artist signed to Zelig Records—Ronson’s imprint with manager Brandon Creed and Harley Wertheimer.
