WHAT IT IS: This Memphis rapper just released a new project, titled 2 Heartless, featuring appearances by Yo Gotti, Lil Baby,BlocBoy JB, and Quavo. 2 Heartless follows 2017 mixtape Heartless, which also arrived on Valentine’s Day. The success of the first set, which included praise from XXL (“One of the hottest rappers to look out for in 2017”), led to his partnering with Interscope for a distribution deal. He made his debut, however, with Federal—the 2015 mixtape that features the instant regional hit “I Need a Plug.” Soon after delivering his sophomore release, E.L.O. (Everybody Lives On), and third mixtape All Gas No Brakes, he signed to CMG for management. On Halloween 2016, Yo Gotti and Moneybagg Yo released their collaborative mixtape, 2Federal. And in August 2017, Moneybagg Yo—born Demario White—released Federal 3X, a critically acclaimed mixtape that debuted at #5 on the Top 200 albums chart.
