WHAT IT IS: “When MØ took to the stage [at NYC’s CMJ in 2012], I’d never seen anything like it before. She was a force of nature,” explains RCA U.K./Chess Club A&R Manager Will Street. “She was bouncing off the walls and climbing the furniture, whilst swinging her now-famous hair braid ’round and ’round. It was like a punk show. People couldn’t take their eyes off her and the energy was infectious. After that show, I threw away my ‘to see list’ and just followed her around NYC, watching her another five times. After CMJ, I flew to Copenhagen as quickly as I could and we got the deal done.” MØ’s debut album was released in 2014, and she’s since been featured on #1 and #2 Major Lazer singles, “Lean On” and “Cold Water.” “Lean On” reached the mainstream masses, and suddenly, her voice was everywhere. The music video, of which she was the star, hit 1 billion views, and the song became the most streamed song of all time on Spotify. Current single “Drum” just launched, and the second album is due out in 2017. Her team consists of Bjorn Nielsen (management), Coda Agency’s Andy Clayton and Skandinavian’s Sarah Solvsteen (agents) and Ron Perry at SONGS (publishing).
