WHAT IT IS: The 20-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter has a viral hit with “Lost Boy,” released in February, with 10k first-week sales thanks to the backing of her 400k Vine followers at the time. She now has 2.2m followers on the short-form video platform, immense growth on other social platforms and has already sold more than 300k copies of the single. “Lost Boy” is #1 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart, and jumped into Top 30 at iTunes (+50 slots) following her Today Show performance, with 25k singles sold that week. Keen songwriting instincts, intimate phrasing and a touching heartache in this newcomer’s delivery distinguish her debut EP, The Intro: Ruth B.
