WHAT IT IS: Helmed by industry vet John Grady, this buzzing country singer is one of the first artists signed to Capitol’s new imprint, I.R.S. Nashville. Signed by Steve Barnett, managed by Simon Fuller and produced by Mutt Lange, Clark already has a heavy cheering section behind him. As Lange notes, “I had been looking for a country singer to work with, and Ashley ticked all the boxes. He’s an animal.” This is the first new artist that Lange has developed, as well as his first foray into country, since he unleashed Shania Twain on the world over 20 years ago.
