SONY PUBLISHING U.K. UPS ASHER
12/14/22

Sony Music Publishing U.K. has promoted Naomi Asher to VP, Songwriter Services and Neighboring Rights. She reports to SMP U.K. Co-Managing Directors, David Ventura and Tim Major.

In her elevated role, Asher will serve as the go-to contact for SMP U.K.’s catalog songwriters and clients. She will be responsible for expanding opportunities for their songs locally and internationally.

Asher joined the pubco in 2020 as VP, Neighboring Rights, U.K. & International. Based in London, she will continue to oversee the company’s neighboring rights division.

“Naomi’s role in bridging the gap between neighboring rights and publishing has been vital,” Major said. “Songwriter services and our legacy catalog is part of the Sony Music Publishing DNA, and Naomi understands this ethos through and through. We know she will be integral in continuing to develop the success of our writers and their iconic songs.”

Prior to Sony, Asher was pirector and president of Wixen Music UK Ltd., where she focused on neighboring rights. As the co-founder of the Independent Alliance for Artist Rights, she is a leading advocate for standardization and increased transparency across neighboring rights.
