UMPG'S LUCKY SEVEN
10/25/16

UMPG is enjoying a banner week, with writers on seven of the Top 10 singles, including Halsey on #1 smash “Closer” (Disruptor/Columbia) by The Chainsmokers. Meanwhile, Team Jody’s Justin Bieber co-wrote and sings on DJ Snake’s “Let Me Love You” (Interscope/Def Jam) and Major Lazer’s “Cold Water” (Mad Decent); Philip Lawrence contributed to Bruno Mars’ new “24k Magic” (WMG); Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj co-penned “Side to Side” (Republic); they’ve got all of Maroon 5, whose “Don’t Wanna Know” (Mosley/Interscope) blew up out of the gate, and Shawn Mendes, whose “Treat You Better” (Island) is showing mondo stamina. You'll note the star acts listed above were inked by and/or under Gerson, seen here with Bieber; to celebrate, the pubco chief suggested a row of tequila shots, but Justin recommended a nice cup of chamomile tea.
